You know what sucks? Not being able to access your web site.

You know what sucks more? Not being able to access your web site or your site mail or your site FTP, because you are apparently blocked from accessing anything on your site’s IP.

You know what sucks more than anything else on the face of the earth, EVER, and yes I am including the clubbing of baby seals?¹

(deep breath)

Not being able to access your web site or anything on that IP, e-mailing your web host and having him tell you everything’s still up and you’re the only one who can’t see it, checking and rechecking all your browser settings and firewall settings and anti-virus settings and whatever settings, troubleshooting your router, troubleshooting your modem, restarting your router, restarting your modem, calling up your ISP and spending hours on the phone with them (during severe weather) only to have them tell you it’s nothing on their end, hanging up and bursting into tears, going out and dropping $130 on a new modem and router, setting up the new modem and router, STILL NOT BEING ABLE TO ACCESS YOUR SITE, sending a last desperate e-mail to your web host begging and pleading with him to double-check and make sure that you didn’t, by whatever freakish coincidence, somehow have your own IP get blocked from the server… and finding out that your own IP got blocked from the server.

Do you hear that loud bam! sound? That is the sound of my head exploding.

¹ Not really! Not really! I am exaggerating for humorous effect! I do not find anything funny in the idea of precious baby seals being dressed in gold lamè and sent out to nightclubs, where they are bound to dance badly, drink too much, and fall prey to unscrupulous playas. Clubbing seals is wrong, people.

Embarrassingly stupid. If this is the kind of logic and science Cornwell uses for her crime novels, they must be about as realistic as, say, Crossing Jordan.

Curse of the Golden Flower (2006)
Pretty, but predictable—I totally called the major plot twists within the first half-hour, and after that it was just a waiting game to see how it played out. It’s operatic, but not as good as the other Chinese epics I’ve seen.

For once, I’m not the one who misheard the lyrics: my mother has apparently gone her entire life thinking the song is called “In the Baghavad Gita”. That makes more sense than the actual lyrics, I guess…
