Foyle’s War Ends—For Real, This Time.

I toasted the good show FW with a strawberry-ice cream malt last night, and both malt and finale were sweetly satisfying. I still wish Sam and Milner would get together (not Sam and Andrew, because he is a prat, although something about his behaviour towards Sam in this last episode made me wonder if his father was bribing him to keep Sam in the family—and who wouldn’t do the same in that situation?)—I know I’m bad, but I was kind of rooting for Mrs. Milner to die in childbirth, because M/S hurt/comfort would really have made for a squeelicious finale. (Speaking of Mrs. Milner: I think I may have missed an episode somewhere, but Milner’s wife is either being played by a different actress or is a different person from the simian-jawed lass he was going with after his wife died. The current brunette wife is prettier than that other actress, but looks far too much like Milner’s wicked first wife for comfort.) Also: Foyle drove. FOYLE DROVE. And that smirk on his face as he drove away from the hospital was just too goddamned cute.
