The adventures of a man who transports goods (legal or otherwise) from one place to another may not sound very exciting, but suspend your scorn — this is one of the best action movies I’ve seen in recent years. The Transporter is a man who lives and works by strict rules… until his quiet life (and his professional duties) are interrupted by a “package” who walks and talks and tries to get away. Now our hero is drawn into a sinister plot involving human smugglers and vicious villains — and so, of course, there is much ass-kicking to be done. And Jason Statham does it well, with moves and techniques that are enormously entertaining and surprisingly realistic. This movie has some of the most inventive fight scenes I can recall, using all kinds of props as weapons and aids (shirts, crude oil, bike pedals, and more). It was much more fun than I expected it to be; action fans should definitely check it out.
