Bridge to Terabithia (2007)

I haven’t seen the new Bridge to Terabithia yet, but it’s already got me hopelessly confused. It’s been over ten years since I read the book, but I can still recall the basics of the plot, and… this isn’t it. Either they’ve mangled the whole point of the book, or the movie does follow the book and is just being mis-marketed by a studio more focused on tapping into the fantasy craze and not at all concerned with shredding a well-loved plot. Then again, maybe this is really a brilliant marketing campaign designed to make readers so confused that they go to the movie just to see what the hell it’s about. At this point, I’ve given up trying to figure it out; I’m just waiting for the reviews.
ETA: According to the movie’s IMDb page, it does follow the book’s plot, and the trailers are presenting it wrong. Let’s hope that’s true; I’d hate to see a good story wrecked just for CGI kicks.
