Ewan Stewart Marathon
November 3, 2006
Because of the new fanlisting I’m building, I’ve been on a Ewan Stewart movie kick—All Quiet on the Western Front, Rebus, The Last Great Wilderness, and now Conspiracy. All have been excellent (though I haven’t watched Conspiracy yet), but I’d particularly recommend The Last Great Wilderness, which is amusing without being overly cute and sprinkled with elements of suspense and gruesome horror. If it had been an American film, it would have been slapstick, scatological, and considerably less scary; as it is, it’s like a British version of Deliverance—which, incidentally, my husband just watched for the very first time. There’s nothing like watching a virgin viewer cringe and whimper at the pure, unadulterated horror… and now he swears that he’ll never look at Southerners the same way again. Squeal, piggy, squeal!
